Impact of mental health on a child's learning and achievements in his / her career is hugely underrated. Parents, schools, coachings everyone is concerned about students physical health and cognitive developed, brushing aside the sensitive issue of mental health. Despite the fact that the average age of early signs of mental illness is 14, most individuals don't seek help until adulthood. It's high time that schools and educators take this issue seriously and deal with it in a constructive manner.
While there could be thousands of reasons of why mental health is ignored, we just need one reason to improve it. Teachers should develop healthy communication with students so that they can sense trouble in the form of changed behaviours of uncharacteristic mannerisms. Schools must breakdown the barriers of hesitation among students to
express themselves. It's the joint responsibility of teachers to promote healthy, social, emotional and behavioural development among students so that their future shall be confident, bright and successfull.
